November 1 - 6
This week we will be reading and discussing D&C 29-34
There is no scripture mastery in these chapters, so we will review D&C 19 16-19:
Scripture Mastery: For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent; But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I; Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink— Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.
Monday - Tuesday: D&C 29
Those who hear and obey the Lord's voice are elect of God. Much like a mother hen gathers and protects her chicks, so will the Lord for all those who come unto Him. Sometimes confusion arises about who is part of the 'elect.' President George Q Cannon said, "All mankind are elect to be saved. No man is a tare unless his conduct makes him such." There are many great principles to glean from this lesson. As you read, consider the following questions: Why is agency key to the plan of salvation? All of the Lord's works affect us both spiritually and temporally. How do our everyday actions affect our spiritual growth? How does the natural man (carnal state) tempt us into transgression? Remember, after the second coming of Christ, the wicked will be removed from the earth. However, people will still have the choice to partake of Christ's Atonement. Though Satan is bound, focusing on temporal things without considering their spiritual effects may lead us away from the Lord. Satan cannot force us to stray from the Lord. However, when we transgress, we open a window for his lies and deceit to work on our spirits. How can we set up a plan to remove ourselves from the temptations of the natural man and Satan?
Remember, the Lord took upon Himself not only our sins and transgressions, but also our fears, temptations and sufferings. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can be cleansed of those sins, and with effort, our temptations. The atonement is open to all who choose to partake of it.

Wednesday: D&C 30-31:
D&C 30: Every person on the earth struggles with temptation. Much like yourself, these scriptures address young adults. While their contributions to the building of the Lords' church were significant, they were not above receiving warnings about their weaknesses. What lessons could you take from verses 1-3 to apply in your own life? How are these actions a recipe for failure? How can we turns these actions around to ensure success? Attend our meetings, respect the Lord first, place an emphasis on spiritual pleasures, heed the prophets...
D&C 31: We must put our trust in the Lord. A phrase that I have always pondered is "Many people believe in Christ, but not enough believe Him." While many of us have a strong testimony of Christ's life, mission, and restored church, we sometimes still find it hard to follow the counsel He gives us. Thomas Marsh was given many blessings in the beginning of this section. These blessings, and more, can be applied to us. However, like Thomas, we must also "Pray always, lest [we] enter into temptation and lose [our] reward." What steps can we take to remove ourselves from temptation?

Thursday: D&C 32-34
D&C 31: When we serve others, we receive blessings we may not have expected. In what ways did sharing the gospel in the American Indian territories bring hidden blessings in the early foundations of the church? Have you ever received an answer to a prayer that seemed completely unrelated to the question you asked? How does following the Lord's counsel always bring the greatest reward?
D&C 33: In what ways can the description of the world in these verses be likened to the world today? Why is sharing the Gospel essential to the plan of salvation? Is anyone omitted from this commandment? How should we prepare ourselves to share the gospel? In addition to reading the scriptures and understanding the counsel of the prophet, what does the Lord imply we should do when He says "...open ye your ears and hearken to the voice of the Lord your God, whose word is quick and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword, to the dividing asunder of the joints and marrow, soul and spirit; and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart?" What will be easy to cut through when we listen and teach by the spirit?
D&C 34: " This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you," John 15:12 In what ways has Heavenly Father shown his love for us? If we take those examples as our definition of love, in what ways can we show true love, Christ's pure love, charity, for one another? How can we make our voices like the sound of a trump?
